Frequently Asked Questions
On your first visit, your chiropractor will take a full health history (including your pain, lifestyle, past injuries or surgeries), perform a physical examination (which may include posture assessment, range of motion tests, neurologic/muscle tests), and then explain what they’ve found and propose a treatment plan. The focus is on determining how your spine and joints are impacting your nervous system, musculoskeletal system and overall function — and then starting adjustments, mobilizations or other therapies as appropriate.
Seeing a chiropractor can help relieve pain (such as back pain, neck pain or joint pain), restore joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, improve posture, enhance nerve-function, support your body’s natural healing, and help you recover faster from injuries or post-surgical rehab. It also helps you return to doing the things you love — whether that’s sports, work or daily activities — without being held back by chronic discomfort or restricted movement.
Chiropractors are trained to assess and treat the neuromusculoskeletal system (that is, the nerves, muscles, bones and joints). They treat a wide variety of conditions from back pain, neck pain, shoulder injury, wrist injury or ankle pain to herniated discs, carpal tunnel syndrome, sprains and strains, sports injuries, TMJ problems and post-surgical rehab. These interventions aim not only at relieving symptoms but also at improving alignment and function.
Yes — back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek chiropractic care. Whether the pain is acute (recent onset) or chronic, whether it stems from a herniated disc, muscle strain, poor posture or joint dysfunction, chiropractic adjustments and supporting therapies can help relieve pressure on the nerves, restore motion and improve function.
The frequency of adjustments depends on your condition, your goals and how your body responds. In some cases you might begin with 1-3 visits per week for 2–4 weeks, then move into less frequent maintenance (for example once a month or as needed) once your symptoms and function improve. Your chiropractor will tailor the schedule based on your unique situation and monitor progress.
